Feel Good Now - June

Welcome to the “FEEL GOOD NOW” series featuring ideas and tips on how to instantly feel better right here, right now.

By Fitness & Yoga expert Anette Shine.

Are you juggling too many balls at the moment? Carrying too much responsibility on your shoulders? If yes, try out these postures to FEEL GOOD NOW.

It’s the time of the year where we have a lot to sort out before the summer holidays, so it might be difficult to find time to exercise as much as you would like. So before you go out and enjoy the long, light evenings try out these postures. You can even do them in your summer dress, no need to change!

1) Sit crossed legged on the floor and lean forward with your arms stretched out in front of you.

Relax your shoulders. Breathing here will relax your central nervous system and calm your monkey mind so you can listen to your own inner wisdom. You even stretch the sciatic nerve on the front leg (feel it on the outer thigh) which is important in order to maintain a healthy back. After a while come up slowly and change leg so you also get to stretch the other sciatic nerve.

2) Did you know that 80% of the worlds population suffer from backache? Try “cat & cow” (See images above) spine stretches daily for mobility & wellness. A flexible spine is a young spine. Inhale through the nose as you look up and gently arch, exhale when you contract and round your back as much as possible.

3) Too many people feel overwhelmed by too much responsibility and end up with tight “frozen” shoulders.

Try to cross your fingers, stretch your arms and bring them straight up over your head. As you inhale imagine you press your palms up against a ceiling. As you exhale lock your elbows inward toward your ears. Stay and breathe like as long as you can. Come down slowly and change the grip so the other index finger will be in front and repeat the exercise. The second side always feels very different from the first one.

HAPPY STRESS-FREE JUNE EVERYONE!  Love Anette
