Yoga for Menopause
By Anette Shine
How to eliminate the symptoms of menopause by the practice of Hormone Yoga Therapy.
Do you suffer from hot flushes, dry skin, no libido, painful joints, irritability, hair loss and emotional instability?
Don’t panic and don’t take artificial hormones, because now a days there is a lot of help available... naturally! In other words: a holistic, healthy approach.
The Brazilian yoga teacher Dinah Rodrigues, 87 years and in excellent dynamic shape, devoted the last 20 years of her life to the development and training of women suffering from the symptoms of menopause/premenopause/infertility/painful periods.
After endless research she came up with her own method: a fixed series of specific effective postures, exercises, breathing techniques, guided visualizations and relaxation to enhance the production of hormones by activating and regulating the endocrine glands. The series takes about 30 minutes to do and is recommended up to 5 times a week. “After only 1 month of practice my hormone levels were already up up 30% – my gynaecologist couldn’t believe it” says a motivated lady in Monaco.
The series is highly effective and brings new vitality, lots of energy and the joy of living! In May 2014 Dinah Rodrigues came in person to train and certify yoga teachers in France. She only accepted 30 instructors and I was one of the lucky ones. Since then I have taught her method in my yoga studio: “Sunshine Yoga” at the Monte-Carlo Bay. We call the class: “Yoga au Féminin”. I highly recommend it, as it’s VERY interesting and because it really works! To re-activate the thyroid and the pituitary gland, Dinah emphasises the importance of being inverted for 5 minutes daily, doing various variations.
Lazy thyroids can also be activated naturally by eating algues/seaweed and by taking Alganat complex (Bionops Laboratory) You see, if your thyroid is lazy, your weight may increase, and going on a diet won’t help.
For painful joints or poor skin/hair/nail conditions make sure to take 2 mesures of Organic Silicium (DexSil) daily. Sérélys, Magalite, Krill oil, Vitamine D3 (Solgar) Primrose...are other supplements to consider. Avoid dairy, red meat, coffee and alcohol as much as possible to avoid inflammation in your body. Homeopathy & acupuncture can also relieve symptoms, as well as specific herbal teas (tisanes)
Dinah Rodrigues is unstoppable and continues her research and evolution on the subject: This year she’s coming back to France not only to train yoga teachers in Hormone Yoga Therapy for women, but also to train and certify yoga instructors in her brand new program: ANDROSPAUSE, (specific program for men in hormonal transition) I’m delighted and thrilled to have been asked to be her personal interpreter as she doesn’t speak French.
