Tatiana Casiraghi & Dana Alikhani present their ethical brand
Federica Nardoni Spinetta, President and Founder of the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode, is very honoured to announce the runway debut of the brand Muzungu Sisters launched in 2011 by Tatiana Santo Domingo Casiraghi & Dana Alikhani, real supporters of ethical fashion. The duo will be presenting their refined outfits and accessories produced by artisans from 16 countries in 4 continents, following millennial manufacturing local traditions.
Tatiana, the wife of Andrea Casiraghi, the eldest son of Princess Caroline, was born in New York to a Colombian father and a Brazilian mother. She was influenced since a young age by foreign cultures, thanks to extensive travelling with her family and the frequent visits to local markets around the world. After her art studies in London, she did a stage in New York with designer Alberta Ferretti, and the Brazilian artist Giovanni Bianco, and even worked for the American Vanity Fair.
It was with her friend Dana Alikhani, born in Cyprus and of Iranian descent, that the project took shape. Dana had studied oriental and african art in London, and finished a masters in Human Rights in New York, that prompted her to promote the work and rights of artisans around the globe, who became their partners in Muzungu Sistters, artisans that consecrate their entire lives to the excellence of their work. Muzungu Sisters are travellers (Muzungu means voyagers in Swahili), who created a business that is both smart and ethical, that values cultures and individuals, and contributes to create a sustainable way of living for autochthonous populations, proud of their heritage.
