So Sorrento...
"True love cannot be found where it does not exist, nor can it be denied
where it does."
These are the wonderful words written by the Sorrento-born poet Torquato Tasso. Sorrento is known as the land of colours; land of the mermaids and the city of the orange and lemon groves.
Apart from the beautiful views, architecture, history, weather, food, culture, none of it would have the same impact for me without the incredible warm nature of the local people. And you would be right to think that being in a tourist area anyone in business is going to be friendly but I went around and engaged on a personal level, on a one to one and was even mistaken for being an Italian on several occasions which delighted me, and all I could see were smiles and all I heard was a great deal of laughter. This is priceless! A simple smile costs absolutely nothing and yet makes such a difference to everyone. There are so many languages in the world and a simple smile speaks them all. It's infectious, it's a healer, it's needed!
World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year, this year it will be Friday, 6th October, so... between now and then we have at least 4 months to practice that smile... 
. The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. Harvey Ball is known to have created the Smiley Face in 1963. Hey, what a great year to be born, my year! After Harvey died in 2001, the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation was created to honor his name and memory, with the slogan "improving this world, one smile at a time." So go on... Smile... You know you want to!
