Woman of the Month

Woman Of The Month - Berit Nielsen

Berit Nielsen Legrand, born and raised in Denmark came to Monaco in 1999 after having lived in many different places around the world.

She is married and a proud mother of 2 teenagers. Her career started in a bank in 1982. Curiosity and always aiming for challenge took her into a man’s dominated world of dealers and traders in different banks worldwide. It was a great time where lots of connections and friendships around the world were formed.

Being former champion in Karate and Jiu jitsu , hard psychical training was always a part of her life so a career shift into the fitness world in 2002 was inevitable. Berit is a certified ACE (American council of Exercise) Personal Trainer, a Health Coach and a STOTT Pilates mat/reformer/chair/barrel teacher.

Pilates is for her not only the best possible training but also mindful deep concentration awareness which goes hand in hand with her former martial art training.

In the spare time, she loves travelling with her family, being with good friends and waterskiing for the Monaco team.

Berit is hugely preoccupied by both human and animal welfare. Until 2015, it has mainly been humans she has given her attention to. However, in March 2015, she created her association: TAF the animal fund (registered in Monaco) with a focus on Dolphins and Whales and their wellbeing.

"This is a large topic as it also involves and affects both us humans and the environment. The ocean and therefore the world is in desperate need for help, so if anyone out there is passionate about the ocean, its beautiful mammals and the environment, please join TAF." Berit Nielsen

1) What makes you smile?

My family and friends, animals’ unconditional love and trustfulness, nature’s beauty and just being alive and able to wake up to the world knowing that one can make a difference.

2) What or who inspires you?

People, animals and naturally being aware of what is going on around me as I believe every single person and situation can be of inspiration. We are all unique and we all have something special to share.

3) Do you believe in gut instincts?

I believe in it 100% and I try to follow it most of the time, as when i don’t, I usually regret it.

4) Your three essential things if you were stuck on a desert island would be what?

Water, food and company.

5) If you are planning a day/night out, what do you enjoy doing the most?

It depends on what I am doing and who I am with.

If it is with my husband, a good meal and a deep and interesting conversation. If I am with my kids and hubby, something fun. If I am with my sports pals, waterskiing is just the best. If it is with my TAF associates, getting things done, advancing and achieving our goals are what I enjoy.
