Anti-Ageing: Peel Away the Years
A Rejuvenation Peel
There are many effective anti-ageing treatments available to help the texture and appearance of the skin. We talk with expert dermatologist Dr. Jean-Luc Vigneron about the Cosmo Peel.
The Cosmo peel is a light chemical peel and one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures performed to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin. It is also recommended for advanced signs of sun damage and ageing of the skin such as loss of elasticity, scars, wrinkles and a smokers complexion.
We spoke with Dr. Jean-Luc Vigneron of Villabianca "For maximum results we recommend 3 to 4 sessions with each session about 2 weeks apart. You will notice how luminous and even your skin will feel and appear."
With this kind of treatment there is no down time. It can be performed in a lunch break and you can return to work immediately. This peel contains an acid called TCA (Trichloracetic Acid), this acid removes the dead, damaged cells and stimulates the dermis. The solution is applied to the skin and massaged in, then a special cream is massaged to deepen and prolong the action of the solution. With each visit the concentrations (the %) of the TCA increases session after session depending on the response of the skin.
The first step is to clean the skin from makeup and then the solution is applied to the skin and massaged in.
"There is no pain. Initially you will feel heat and your skin will tingle for a few minutes." Dr. Vigneron adds.
It is recommended not to re-apply makeup or touch your skin for the rest of the day. Within a few days of having the treatment you will feel a slight tightness and the skin may appear dry and then you will experience slight peeling for up to 5 days.
Superficial peels are suitable for anyone from the age of 21 and depending on the recommendations of your dermatolgist sometimes earlier to treat seborrheic skin.
"Always seek the advice from a professional dermatologist who will always offer you a consultation" Says Dr. Jean-Luc Vigneron.
