Matthew Moss, who has his studio in Monte-Carlo, joins some of the most celebrated musicians of our time, mythical stars of Rock ‘n’ Roll, to display, their passion for art through their own personal paintings on exhibition. Matthew says “The theme of our art on view is the preservation of our planet, and the magical mysteries of the world’s oceans from which we draw our inspiration. We are making this appeal to the public before it is all too late”.
The Irish artist founded the conservation laboratory for Old Master paintings at the National Gallery of Ireland. It is regarded as one of the twelve most important art museums in Europe. Matthew set new benchmarks for painting ‘dal vivo’, the beauties of the Ligurian landscape, particularly the Italian and the French Riviera. This multimedia exhibition at the Oceanographique museum will prove a delightful and unique experience and a rare opportunity for lovers of art coming from Liguria and the French Riviera.
Matthew is an Irish artist who fell in love with the Riviera di Ponente and the Côte D'Azur. He speaks Italian and a little French. He has chosen a French title for his painting on show at the Oceanographique museum, Paysage Monégasque avec le Musée Océanographique which he pronounces with a marked Irish accent.
His painting at the Musée Océanographique is dominated by the treacherous and turbulent Ligurian Sea that borders, Italy, France and the Principality of Monaco. White foam of the waves beating against the fortified bulwark of Fort Antoine, emerging from the rocky promontory is the ochre and red silhouette of ancient Monaco, and, towards the centre background, the Oceanographic Museum, nestled into the principality’s rock face.
Exhibition: Viewing to public, from Wednesday, September 25th to Sunday, October 13th. Oceanographic Museum: "Arcolart 2013" presents Arternativelight (passion/ocean), collective exhibition of artists in collaboration with the Naval Museum of Monaco.

The tempestuous waves merge into the cloud-laden background where, on the top left we see the outline of the medieval hill town, Roquebrune and, in the distance, the outline of Ventimiglia, emerging from the clouds. Dominating the scene below with its brooding, threatening presence is the Tête de Chien, a distinctive promontory that was once a strategic fortress defending the Principality of Monaco.
