The Monte Carlo Ballet makes their paux de deux presentation

Tuesday, October 1st - Patrick Wante, in charge of Public Relations for the Monte-Carlo Ballet presented the company’s 2012/2013 season at CREM, accompanied by Kathy Plaistowe their Dancers Coordinator who had been herself a ballet dancer.  Mr Wante began his dissertation by explaining that The Monte-Carlo Ballet is the official national company of the Principality, established in 1985 by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Hanove  in accordance with the wishes of her mother, Princess Grace of Monaco.  It was back in 1992 when Jean Christophe Maillot joined the company and is today its Artistic Director who is credited for beginning a new dance era in Monaco. There are 95 people working among them 24 female and 24 male dancers and the performances take place in the Grimaldi Forum, the Salle Garnier, their Atelier in Beausoleil and even in the Theatre des Varietes. They are very concerned in dancers reconversion that is made possible thanks to the assistance of the association « Friends of the Monte-Carlo Ballet ».

Their season will open in November with the « Imprevus » that could be translated as « Unforeseen » and as it names suggests the subject is not known until the last minute. You will be able to discover the process of creation close to the dancers and choreographers themselves in the company’s workshop in Beausoleil.  It continues with performances during December and January with the visit from companies coming from abroad including the famous Pina Bausch. Not to be missed is the updated version of « Lac » (Lake) by Jean-Christophe Maillot, that has been acclaimed worldwide. In March there will be another session of « Imprevus » (Unforeseen), plus the visit of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia. In April Jean-Christophe Maillot will enchant us with his « Creation » for the Monte-Carlo Ballet. In May will be the Gala of the Princess Grace Dance Academy performed by its students at the Salle Garnier. And during Jthe summer we will enjoy the visit of the Manon Royal Ballet from Covent Garden and much much more.
