United Kingdom lights up the sky in Monaco
British fireworks in Monaco provoked the ire of the Gods and won the competition!
Saturday August 25 was the last of the International Fireworks Competition. Pyrotex Fireworx, which won the British Musical Fireworks championship for the second year running in 2011, represented England with a fabulous display featuring almost a tonne of explosives, that took eight months in the planning, involving a five-day journey by road and sea with a crew of 20 during two solid days to set up — all for a show which was over in 25 minutes.
The fireworks were brilliantly set off in time to accompanying music by a state-of-the-art computer system which can control their ignition and flight down to a hundredth of a second. The musical program included songs from Sir Paul McCartney, Snow Patrol, X-Ray Dogs and other groups. And at the time of the grand finale the skys opened and a strong wind and rains descended on the viewers that had to run for shelter! Piroxtex Fireworkx won the coveted prize of Eur 10,000!
