Mini Mimosa - Kids for kids

KIDS FOR KIDS
Kids Fun Run to raise money for childhood Cancer in the
Alpes-Maritimes

The first ever fun run for kids, organised by Mimosa Matters, will take place on 15th April 2018 at the Stade des Bouillides, Valbonne. Ebica International School is proudly sponsoring this event which has been specifically organised for children aged between 5-15 years to help in the fight against childhood cancer in the Alpes Maritimes.

Every year, there are another 2,500 case of childhood cancers diagnosed in France, and 50 annually right here on our doorstep in the Alpes-Maritimes. These children undergo treatments in various hospitals, often for a long time, robbing them of a childhood.

Following on from the huge success of Mimosa teams in the yearly Nice-Cannes Marathon, Mimosa Matters launches Mini Mimosa, a FUN RUN encouraging children to take part in a healthy and fun event whist making a difference.

Says Mimosa President, Juliette Clarkin, “we decided to launch Mini Mimosa as we saw such a huge wave of support from children during the Nice-Cannes Marathon. This is about harnessing their vitality and inspiring them to help whilst highlighting the need to keep healthy. Basically KIDS HELPING KIDS.”

Mimosa will be working alongside its main charity partner, La Ligue contre le Cancer, to provide them with the funds to support children with Cancer in the region – whether with medical equipment or to sponsor entertainers and workshops during their stay in hospital – bringing some fun distraction to some very brave individuals. The Mimosa Committee are keen that children benefit from taking part in this fun experience and that parents and the community can encourage them as much as they can.

Valbonne Mairie is joining the list of community members lining to support the cause, by giving the Stade des Bouillides free of charge to host this event. There are three distances to choose from depending on age – 800m, 1.6km and 3.2km and kids will receive a t-shirt and medal and certificate following their huge efforts. Not just a FUN-RUN, this event will be a morning of fun and camaraderie with lots of activities, a raffle and a great atmosphere for all the family. There will be lots of stands in the stadium, with sports demonstrations, healthy eating advice and food and drink for the competitors and their supporters!

Ebica International School was an obvious choice for the Mimosa Committee who have been raising funds to help beat Cancer in the region for the past four years. The school is an IB World school welcoming pupils from 2-18 years and is founded on the principles of creativity, positivity, inspiration, energy and innovation. Ebica adds, “Mimosa is making waves in the community, raising much needed funds in the fight against Cancer. This event is aimed at teaching children healthy values that they can begin to undertake and use throughout their lives – sport, nutrition and health and charity. We believe that children should have the agency to positively affect change in their communities and that by getting involved, even in the smallest of ways, they can have the biggest of impacts.”
