Live 8 years longer and healthier
Scientists have issued a report stating that women who sit more than 10 hours a day risk aging by 8 years. This staggering report came from a team of researches from California University in San Diego who monitored about 1500 women ageing between 64 and 95.
What the study revealed was the women sitting for long periods had cells that were biologically older than those women who moved around more frequently. The results were worse in those who took part in no physical activity at all.
It is recommended to have at the very least, 30 minutes of physical exercise a day. Lifestyle is of course key and a bad diet and/or smoking will also contribute to the deterioration of good cells.
“Our study found cells age faster with a sedentary lifestyle. Chronological age doesn’t always match biological age" said team research leader Aladdin Shadyab
Whilst much of this should be common sense, we all sometimes need to be reminded about how we could calculate our day more effectively to live better and healthier lives.
Why not make a commitment to have a daily stroll and then to reward yourself with a little sit down at the end. Share the experience with your dog or rally round some of your friends. Slowly you will build a real desire to challenge yourself with perhaps an organised hike or join a fun class such as Zumba.
