Artist Of The Month - Amy Christianna Blake
Our featured artist this month creates a masterpiece every time she opens her mouth to sing... We feature Soprano Amy Christianna Blake who adds colour to our world with her voice.
Amy graduated with a Masters in Vocal Performance from Texas Tech University and then continued her training at the Tanglewood Music Centre and Des Moines Metro Opera. She has participated in master classes with Renata Scotto, Licia Albanese, Lucy Shelton, Phyllis Curtin, Cheryl Studer and Elly Ameling. She was winner of several competitions and Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation Scholarship. She was invited to participate in the final of the Lyric Opera Center in Chicago. Amy is a native of Texas but now lives on the French Riviera.
An accomplished recitalist whose song repertoire spans nine languages, Amy has given recitals in New York City (Merkin Hall, Elaine Kaufman Centre, Symphony Space) and for the Festival au Village in Pourrières, France. A new music enthusiast, she has performed the world premieres of works written specially for her.
Hailed for her “beautiful singing” by The New York Times, Amy Christianna Blake combines a rich expressive soprano voice with dymanic interpretations. Her exciting and moving performances of a diverse operatic and concert repertoire have firmly established her as one of today's most promising artists on the international stage. In opera she has garnered praise for her “tremendous power and stage presence” (NY Times).
