Eye of the Beholder
Eye of the Beholder
I received an offer I could not refuse, ‘Invitation to a Beauty/Skin care Workshop’ from Deborah Marzohl, The Riviera Woman’s diet and nutrition expert. The workshop was to feature products that had been created by Alexandra Soveral and demonstrated by A S herself. Alexandra Soveral ? Up goes the flag of intrigue. And a rapid response to email of ‘ Count me in Deb.’
It was an early rise for me on Wednesday 25th March and I set off to Biot where Deborah was hosting this special workshop at her studio. We were a group of 8 who had gathered together and so looking forward to the revelations that followed.
I was delighted to meet Alexandra Soveral, who on my first impression filled me with such inspiration, but on reflection I still cannot give her enough credit, for her charm, her sincerity and for the passion she oozes when she talks to you. I immediately felt like a convert… into what ? I did not know but what I did know, was that I was listening and captivated.
Through hard work and years of study and persistence, Alexandra has developed her own skin care range called aptly ‘ Alexandra Soveral’. There is no denying that Alexandra sells herself well and it is not surprising that she is already very successful. Alexandra is more than just a natural who can empty the contents of your purse, but she gives you a great deal more in return.
We all sat around the table which was adorned with lots of samples and a mirror each. As I sat and listened, I came to the conclusion that life, in all ways, was about discipline and structure. With all the disruptions that life can throw at you, it is not always easy to apply this.
Malheuresement (unfortunately), I was not able to partake fully in the Workshop, as I had another appointment to go to shortly afterwards and needed to look intact. I did though, experience massage envy. To prove that I was all ears, eyes and mouth and a whole lot more , I embraced the whole presentation like the obedient student I am.
In truth, I was going to write a blow by blow account of all that took place and to describe in detail the rituals of skin care and face massage that one can perform on oneself. To be honest, time has got the better of me and also I do believe that you should experience this for yourself and be treated to a facial that will make you feel fresh and invigorated. I was able to use all the notes I had taken (and there were a great deal) and was able to replicate the workshop on my own. I did question Alexandra by saying that most women, including myself, would simply not have the time to commit to doing this routine on a daily basis. ‘Of course not’ says Alexandra, who understood my point, but stated that the whole procedure could be done over a period of the whole week and that even 5 minutes of facial massaging will go a long way to feeling and looking better. Unless you have been to one of the workshops or experienced an ‘Alexandra’ special massage, you are at a disadvantage and should feel curious enough to book an appointment. I will give all details very soon.
The products are developed in Alexandra’s laboratory :
‘…products are made from raw ingredients that are organically produced, those ingredients may vary from season to season depending on environmental conditions. These changes can slightly affect the consistency and smell of our products from batch to batch. This is because we use only unrefined oils and unbleached waxes and butters. The quality of the product remains as do its properties, they may just look and smell a little different every now and then.’ To me, that says exclusive and attention to detail.
One of the products ‘Forever Young Eye Balm’ was voted best product two years running by The Times newspaper in the UK. The eye balm contains many pure ingredients including Frankincense, which has been used for centuries as an anti-wrinkle potion. Impressed? I am.
The workshop lasted about an hour and a half, which really was enjoyable and most informative. It was a great fun way to share a couple of hours in the company of other inspiring women.
I did learn also that one should not fear getting old and that wrinkles are a part of who we are and that it was better to grow old gracefully. And I learnt to reward yourself with whatever makes you feel better about yourself. My calculations told me that there are 60 minutes in an hour, and 24 hours in a day, which equals 1440 minutes each day. Surely we can spend at least 10 of these little minutes, to our wellbeing and I believe it is an investment to our future.
I have no doubts that we will be hearing more from Alexandra Soveral. You can visit her website: http://alexandrasoveral.co.uk/ and if you can allow yourself the extravagance, do visit her clinic in Maida Vale in London.
