Health and Beauty

Get well soon, with home help.

A healthy diet is always necessary but especially when we see changes in temperatures and we become vulnerable to the elements. Here are 7 kitchen cupboard angels that help and comfort you should you become unwell with colds or the dreaded flu.

Chicken soup... always a comforting dish when you feel ill. The soup is the perfect pick-me-up and will keep you warm for a speedy recovery.

Add honey to a cup of tea or to hot water to help with sore throats.

In recent years, apple cider vinegar has been singled out as an especially helpful health tonic. The vapours when you add apple cider vinegar to boiling water can help to a blocked nose and clogged up chest.

Oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruits all contain vitamin C and can help to ward off those winter bugs. Try and make this part of your daily diet.

Mushrooms contain a mineral called selenium that can help the body against flu.

Fresh ginger is perfect for making sure that you don’t become dehydrated during illness. Ginger tea or a cup of hot water with pieces of fresh ginger will keep you refreshed and can tackle a tickly cough.

Almonds can help relieve the stress caused by feeling unwell. They are rich in vitamins and minerals.
