Cellulite
With Summer come and gone, bodies are once again wrapped in clothing and out of site. It is important to continue eating healthily and to choose a diet that will keep cellulite at bay.
Dieting is about sensible eating. Keeping the kilos off is the easy bit, as long as you have the willpower. Cellulite however, is a completely different issue. To define cellulite, it is a collection of fat and water deposits underneath the skin resembling orange peel and it is believed to come from the toxins in the food we eat. Up to 90% of women endure cellulite at some point in their lives. It is not even associated with obesity as thin women can also have cellulite.
Start to introduce the following foods into your diet to help combat cellulite and to detox your body.
Drink as much water as possible. It is recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Water helps carry those toxins out of your body. Ideally, it would be best to reduce the intake of caffeine, alcohol and fizzy drinks. This is not only good to eliminate cellulite but the perfect way to cleanse your digestive system, leaving you feeling refreshed. Being constipated is a huge contributor to having cellulite.
High fibre foods such as whole grain bread, cereals and brown rice help to prevent fat being stored, as they are good in clearing out the system. It is a fact that high fibre foods are low in fat and as they fill you up quicker, you tend not to eat as much.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are low in fat. Citrus fruits are effective natural cleansers. Apples help to combat obesity and reduce cholesterol in the blood. They are high in fibre and low in sugar. Cabbage not only helps blood circulation, it eliminates toxins from your body. Artichokes are full of fibre and help against constipation. The tomato, which is also a great Mediterranean product, contains carotene and vitamin A and along with carrots, is a vital source for good skin.
A diet high in essential fatty acids and antioxidant minerals will help regulate the body's fat metabolism. So introduce oily fishes, nuts and seeds to the diet.
Whilst not all fats are bad, it is better to try and replace fatty meats with lean beef and poultry. If possible try and avoid pork which contain higher fats.
Together with a good healthy and sensible diet, do exercise. Even if you can only take a short stroll every day, this will help circulate the blood and reduce cellulite.
Cellulite will not disappear overnight but keeping to a routine of eating well, drinking plenty of water and exercise, you will see a difference. And the main thing is to be good to yourself.
