The 2011 Media Seminar, organised by The International Club of the Riviera, took place at the EDHEC Business School in Nice.

The subject of the seminar was the changing platforms for receiving and distributing news. Guest speaker, award winning BBC journalist John Sweeney, gave a key-note speech talking about the importance of free journalism.

The event continued with Mike Hardaker of AngloInfo as moderator to the panel that consisted of Ab Kuijer representing FR2DAY, Hannah Marshall - editor Riviera Times, Mark Dezzani of Riviera Life, Anna Fill - Editor The Riviera Woman and Flavien Plouzennec - journalist for Nice-Matin.

Our views reflected a mutual respect for traditional news gathering whilst embracing the fact that technology in the form of social networks have broadened and expanded our acceptance to receiving news from various sources and with immediate effect.

The world has seen the benefits of receiving news freely which will continue to break down the political walls in order to make it a better informed place where democracy is king.
