A Media Evening

The International Club of the Riviera in association with Events by George! presents the annual Media Evening on
Thursday 10th of March.

This year the event is being hosted by the Edhec Business School at their Auditorium in Nice.

The proceedings will commence with welcome cocktails a 6.30 p.m. followed by the Media Seminar at 7.30 p.m. A sumptous Cocktail Dinertoire will wind up what promises to be a very lively event!

The topic this year is:- New channels, New platforms - How is the Media changing?

Only a few years ago there were relatively few ways to "consume media". Now new technologies have produced new delivery mechanisms such as digital broadcasting, the internet, audio, video and printing on demand - even text messaging. There are also new platforms from games consoles to mobile telephones (and who saw the game-changing nature of the iPad at its launch?)

How are new businesses exploiting these new opportunities? How are existing media businesses responding? Does the old guard try to compete with the Young Turks or does it differentiate by focusing ever more tightly on its traditional core strengths? How does this affect local media - and, specifically, local media on the French Riviera?

The Media Representatives on the panel along with the moderator will share their industry knowledge and expertise with the audience and contribute to a greater understanding of the shifting roles of various media types in the 21st century - with specific reference to the Riviera and Monaco.

An evening of vigorous and enlightening debate is assured with an expert panel, drawn from dynamic key members of the local media scene, who runs the gamut from pure online "self-publishers" to the "traditional" print organizations.

The members of the panel will be:

Mike Hardaker, co-founder of AngloInfo who will be the moderator.

John Sweeney, award winning BBC investigative journalist who will also deliver the keynote address.

Mark Dezzani, Publisher - Riviera Life TV

Hannah Marshal, Editor - Riviera Times
