An exotic night in Cannes

The Scandinavian Terrasse is in the middle of the Croisette in Cannes, between the Carlton Hotel and the Palais Stephanie Casino. It's a superb location; a first floor garden terrace and just about the ideal place for any party.

On Saturday May 29 The International Club of the Riviera held "Fusion at Sunset", an evening event with food, music and entertainment. Over fifty people turned up for a congenial chat in the mild evening air. The weather played fair for a change; only a day or two earlier it had bucketed down but this evening was dry and warm enough to sit out until late.

The event, organised by the Club in cooperation with Events By George! provided an exceptional location with live music, wine and food from five continents. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Jamila, a local Oriental dancer, part of whose act can be seen below. Jamila offers lessons to anyone wishing to learn this form of dancing, and can be contacted through the club.

The raffle raised over €250 for the Club's chosen charity, that supports children with AIDS in India. The Riviera Woman was pleased to win a bottle of Jill's finest home-made Limoncello, and can report that it has an effect not unlike rocket fuel!

Here's a montage of some of the pictures taken at the time, some of which can be seen on the International Club's own website. In these days of financial crises and political uncertainty this was an event that put the affairs of the world backstage while everyone had a really enjoyable time. On behalf of everyone, thanks go to George for organising it so well.
