Man Knows Best!
"Why is the presumably normal sensible editor of this on line magazine allowing a man to write something in this publication?" Answer; because men usually make more sense?
That should have grabbed your attention, but the point is, its true. Let me explain, women rely more on an intuitive sense to make decisions in their daily lives, whereas men more commonly look at the facts and then decide.
Which of you has never prejudged another person because of clothing, makeup or accessory gaffes? Chaps tend not to notice sartorial disasters (unless they take the shape of mini skirted, scantily dressed specimens - and then they definitely can and do make the wrong decisions), and so tend to take more notice of the facts or what is being said than listen to intuition.
That means that business, where facts and hard evidence are normally at the heart of any enterprise, is ideally suited to a man's temperament rather than a woman's and that equates to more men being successful in business than women. That's a fact.
The old primeval hunter gatherer mentality, as opposed to the home making, child bearing role, traditionally the part of woman kind, seems to imply that a woman, despite what she would like to think, is not as effective a liberated force in the workplace as she would like to be.
I have been criticised in the past for being a misogynist, but its not true, I have never had a massage in my life and would only consider one now if there was a happy ending.
You see, men just want happy endings, job done, and off to the pub, but women want to think about it all a bit more and think about what they feel.
That's the point, men usually only make the wrong decision if they are affected by anything other than hard facts, and also when hard is the operative word.
But one undeniable fact is that there are a lot of women out there in the world of business, using womanly guile, gestures and flirtation to help them get their way. That is palpably unfair whilst being undeniably effective.
A friend of mine who abhors women on the golf course, a particularly male dominated terrain, used to keep some clothes pegs in his golf bag, and would leave them on the ladies tees, suggesting that as it was a good drying day, they perhaps should be back at home doing the washing.
Metaphorically, from a macho male perspective, the message is clear. The involvement of women in business generally slows up and complicates the basis of business activity which flows much more fluidly without women involved, but, hey, it would not be so much fun!"
