And the winners are... The Swiss team win the '4th Optimist Team Racing'.

The Swiss Team - Winners

On Sunday, January 13th, the 12 international teams of young sailors between 12 and 15 years old representing 10 nations, braved the seas in an inclement weather during the final race of the 4th edition of  the Monaco Optimist Team Racing and it was the Swiss Gstaad Yacht Club team, the international team leaders, who won again this year clinging to the FXPro trophy. They were followed closely by the the Yacht Club Argentino who came second participating for the first time, and the team representing the Yacht Club of Monaco were third.

All the sailors were present at the Prize Ceremony at the Yacht Club of Monaco and a special prize was given to a young female sailor from Russia who rescued a fellow sailor of a capsized boat.

This event is quite unique as each race saw two teams of four crew members compete at the same time, and the focus is on the overall’s team performance. It is a highly tactical contest following in the steps of the America’s Cup format of Match Racing.

The next race is scheduled for January 17-19, 2014.
